Revenue
Retail sales without feeling like a salesperson
Many beauty professionals dislike selling. Understandable – nobody wants to seem pushy. The flaw in that thinking: recommending is not selling, it is part of the service.
The result does not end at the door:
You worked two hours on a colour. If a sulphate shampoo goes on it at home, the result is gone in three weeks – and the client thinks your work did not last. The care recommendation protects your work.
During the treatment, not at the till:
The natural moment is when you use the product: "I am using a mask on the lengths because the ends are dry – it is available for home too, then the colour lasts longer." No pitch, just a note.
Two products are enough:
Recommend five things and you sell nothing. Name two at most and say which matters more. Honesty beats a full range: if a product is not needed, say so – that is exactly what makes you credible next time.
A no is a no:
No following up, no guilt. The recommendation was the service; the decision is the client's.
Remember:
Work out once what a ten percent retail share of revenue would mean for you. In most salons it is more than an extra working day per month.
