Stock under control: lower costs, no shortages

Hardly anyone knows exactly what a single treatment costs in materials. That is precisely where money sits quietly.

Work out material cost per treatment:

Weigh or measure once exactly what goes into a typical treatment: colour, developer, foils, gloves, towels, care products. Break the purchase price down. That figure belongs in every price calculation – many salons underestimate it by half.

Make stock visible:

A simple list is enough: item, minimum level, current level. Ordering only when something runs out means express surcharges and improvising on the client. Hoarding everything ties up cash and risks expired goods.

Few suppliers, clear terms:

Rather than buying small quantities from five suppliers, it pays to bundle volume and talk terms. Above a certain quantity, discounts and free shipping are normal – you just have to ask.

Waste has patterns:

Too much colour mixed, opened products without a date, duplicate orders. A look at one week's bin says more about your margin than any spreadsheet.

Remember:

Ten percent lower material costs go straight to profit – without a single extra appointment.
