Introducing online booking: what matters

A large share of appointment requests happen in the evening and at weekends – exactly when nobody answers the phone. Being bookable only by phone means losing those requests silently.

What online booking really changes:

It removes work: no callbacks, no phone tag, no handwritten notes. And it lowers the barrier – younger clients especially prefer booking at 10pm on their phone to calling during the day.

Clarify before you launch:

How long does each service really take, including prep and clean-up? How much lead time do you need? Do you want to accept bookings automatically or confirm them first? Answering these cleanly avoids chaotic first weeks.

Do not forget buffers:

The most common mistake is scheduling too tightly. Plan realistic times including buffers – otherwise the first delay puts you behind for the whole day.

Keep an eye on no-shows:

Automatic reminders around 24 hours ahead noticeably reduce forgotten appointments. If you get many late cancellations, consider a deposit on long appointments – communicated clearly, most people accept it.

Watch the commission:

Marketplaces bring visibility but cost per appointment. A booking through your own website costs no commission – long term, your own site is the cheaper channel.

Remember:

Regulars may keep calling. Online booking is an additional route, not an obligation – that way nobody feels processed.
