Fringe (bangs)

A cut section of hair over the forehead – from curtain bangs to a blunt fringe.

A fringe is one of the most effective changes there is: it reframes the face without losing length. Variants range from soft curtain bangs through wispy fringes to a straight blunt fringe.

What suits which face shape:

A soft, side-falling fringe flatters almost everyone. Heavy, straight fringes look striking and suit straight to slightly wavy hair. Cowlicks at the hairline call for caution – they are hard to tame.

Plan the upkeep honestly:

A fringe quickly grows into the eyes and needs a trim every three to five weeks, plus daily styling. Anyone unwilling to plan for that is better served by long face-framing layers.
