Patch test
A preliminary test on a small area of skin to rule out allergic reactions.
In a patch test, a small amount of product is applied to an inconspicuous area of skin – usually behind the ear or in the crook of the elbow – and the reaction observed over 24 to 48 hours.
When it is mandatory:
Before hair colour and bleach, before lash and brow tints, before lash adhesive and before permanent make-up. Allergic reactions to these products are documented and can be severe.
Why it must not be skipped:
Sensitisation can appear suddenly even after years of problem-free use. The test takes a few minutes and protects both client and studio – legally as well as medically. Many manufacturers explicitly require it.
