Hyaluronic acid
A moisture-binding ingredient that makes skin look plumper.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance the body produces itself that can bind large amounts of water. In cosmetics it makes the upper skin layers look plumper and smoother, so fine dehydration lines are less noticeable.
Molecule size makes the difference:
High-molecular hyaluronic acid stays on the surface and smooths immediately. Low-molecular penetrates slightly deeper and lasts longer. Many good serums combine both.
One important application tip:
Hyaluronic acid attracts moisture – including from the skin itself if the surrounding air is very dry. So apply to slightly damp skin and always layer a moisturiser on top to seal the water in.
